Case study · E-commerce SEO

Two blog posts from the bottom of page one to the top three on Google

After a site migration, I built Perfumarte’s blog SEO structure and wrote posts around real search intent. My two best posts climbed past bigger brands within weeks.

01The challenge

After its e-commerce site was migrated, Perfumarte needed to protect its search visibility and build a blog that could bring in organic traffic, in a niche where larger brands already publish.

02What I did

  • Worked on the SEO of the e-commerce store after the migration, alongside the software development team: revised page copy and researched new transactional keywords.
  • Built the SEO structure of the e-commerce blog, then wrote and optimised around 10 posts.
  • Chose target keywords with Google Ads Keyword Planner and built Spanish-language posts around them, for example “estudiar perfumista” (100–1,000 searches a month) and “regalar perfumes” (10–100).
  • Found a gap in the top result. The guide ranking first at the time (Rituals) never pointed readers to a product. I built mine with product recommendations in every section, so readers leave with a solution as well as advice.
Beyond SEO

I also implemented AI tools in the company’s in-house HR platform to classify candidates and their qualifications, and I support the development team with website mockups and creative design using Claude Code.

On camera for the brand, too

SEO brings people to the site; social content gives them a reason to care about the brand. I also create short-form video for Perfumarte’s social channels, on camera and in Spanish.

03Results

Both posts started at the bottom of page one and now rank in the top three on Google for their main keywords.

  • Most of the other posts I wrote rank in positions 2–3 on Google.
  • Bonus: AI search visibility. The study guide appears among the top three sources for both of its keywords in Gemini and NotebookLM, and the gift guide is the second source in NotebookLM (3 out of 3 attempts each).

04What I learned

Both posts worked because I started from the specific thought a reader in that niche has, and built the whole post around it.

Matching search intent keyword by keyword creates one continuous line that follows the reader, from the question they type, to the answer on the page, and on through the site.

Keyword Planner data and the search results show how Google interprets a query. The phrasing often isn’t natural, but reading what Google returns tells me what the person behind the screen is really looking for.

05What’s next

  • Publish a YouTube video (edited and ready) that links to one of the posts, with a UTM-tagged link so GA4 can credit the traffic. Report views, clicks and referral sessions after two to four weeks.
  • Test new titles and meta descriptions on the posts with the lowest CTR, and record the before and after.
